The Living Tradition

YOGA

More than movement. A journey inward.

Yoga is not about touching your toes; it is about what you learn on the way down. An ancient, experiential science of aligning body, breath, and consciousness.

Foundational Understanding

What Is Yoga?

Derived from the Sanskrit root Yuj, yoga means the union of individual awareness with universal life. In classical understanding, it is the art of dissolving the artificial psychological boundaries that create isolation and conflict.

Patanjali defined yoga as Chitta Vritti Nirodha—the intentional quietude of the agitations of the mind. When mental turbulences subside, you rest naturally in your unconditioned self.

Integral Framework

Yoga & Awareness

Exploring the five interrelated layers through which inward transformation unfolds.

Body (Asana)

Transforming the physical vessel from a source of rigidity and fatigue into a stable, radiant instrument of calm.

Breath (Pranayama)

Harnessing the vital prana through conscious respiration, resetting autonomic balance and clearing energetic obstructions.

Mind (Manas & Buddhi)

Cultivating discerning intelligence (Viveka) to step back from reactionary thoughts and emotional turbulence.

Meditation (Dhyana)

Effortless absorption in silent presence; resting beyond concepts, stories, and sensory distractions.

Self-Inquiry (Vichara)

The direct contemplation of the seer: investigating the fundamental identity beneath conditioned beliefs.

Conscious Action (Karma)

Expressing inner clarity through compassionate stewardship and selfless contribution to the world around you.
